Accessing Restricted Sites from School: Part 2

There is another very simple way to bypass the school's blocked list of websites.
This way will only work for websites that have steady url.

Steady url mean that once the video/audio begins it does not change its url during the video
or
that you do not have to go to another page after entering the url.

If the url is not steady, the content will be blocked.

The trick here is to add an "s" after the http.
If you want to access "http://www.google.com", you will actually enter "https://www.google.com"

Again, this will not work on websites like youtube since you have to divert to the video you want to see.

Have fun.

Access Restricted Sites from School: Pandora

Blocked Websites..
As every high school-er knows that the there are some websites, which are perfectly okay, that the school blocks.
Some of these websites are sometimes very educational. I have heard teachers complain to access these website so they can show us something, but unfortunately they are unable to.

So today, I will show you how to access pandora, one of the sites which can used for educational purposes, from your blocked school network.

This is very simple and easy to do.
Open up any browser you have and in the URL bar (where you type in http://www.randomwebsite.com), just type 208.85.40.50 and nothing else, and enjoy!!

It is that simple.

As many of you know, this is placing the ip address into the URL instead of the website name. This technique works for many different websites, but for some it does not like youtube.com since the videos are directly related to it.

I will post many other websites and ways to bypass the school network later on. Please comment if you like this post or you would like me to bypass any specific website.

Thanks
See you later.

Microsoft Office: Excel

Problems with Excel
Don't worry!

From experience i have noticed people have real difficulties creating graphs in excel and now with 2007 microsoft packet, it has become even more difficult.
So in this entry, i will teach how to create graphs in the new microsoft excel, but also with the old one.

In microsoft 2007:
1. Off course, open the excel.
2. Take your data (x's and y's) that you want to graph, and place it in two consecutive columns.
**Make sure that the ordered pairs you want (x and y) are next to each other. For example, if you
want x at 2 to be 5 with y at 2 to be 10, then if x at 2 is at A3 then B3 should be y at 2 so the pair (5,10) can be formed on the graph.

3. After you have entered all the data, select all and only the data that you want in the graph. (By pressing one of the corner cells that have the data, and holding it and by moving the cursor until all the data is selected. Now let go of the cursor, or the button)
4. Go to insert and you will see a area labeled chart.
5. Select any of the charts that you want. (I usually select the scatter chart with no lines attached so i can change that later).
6. You should see a chart come up with all the data points that you selected.
7 . If the chart does not look correct, then click the chart and you will see an option for switch row/column in the toolbar at the top of the page where everything resides.
8. If you want to add, remove, or edit data, then click the graph and click select data.
9. If you want to make anymore changes, click on the graph and go to format, design, or layout that come up at the top of the page.
Layout: Have options to change information in the graph itself. For instance, the number of lines that show up in the axis, or the number of axis, or best fit lines.
Format: Have options that deal with changing the color of the color of the graph or the outline of the graph.
Design: Deals with editing more data,  changing the color of the points, changing the format of the graph (have a title and axis or just the axis or just the title etc).

In microsoft 2003:
Follow this link for inserting bar graph.
Even though this link only talks about a bar graph, changing the bar graph is easy as right clicking and selecting format.

I will soon post videos for these tutorials.

Thanks.
Please post any comment about the information you did not understand and of things you would like to see the tutorials on.
